PASCO – Weston-McEwen senior Alex McIntrye took Saturday to join his TigerScots teammates and the McLoughlin cross country team to travel to Washington, competing in the Pasco Big Cross. For McIntyre, the trip proved worthwhile as he was the first runner to cross the finish line, winning in a time of 16 minutes, 24.6 seconds, a new personal record for the Weston-McEwen student athlete.
Although the TigerScots failed to qualify for a team score, the Pioneer team of McLoughlin finished the day in sixth place led by junior Derek Antonson’s 31st placement.
The Weston-McEwen girls did qualify, placing fifth in the team standings after junior EvaLena Lieuallen grabbed a top 10 finish with an eighth place line cross and a time of 24:41.72. McLoughlin freshman Emma Gomez was the top Pioneer finish, placing 22nd.
Easternoregonsports.com is again standing out from other media sources by listing all the runners from eastern Oregon schools in the cross-country competitions. First or 41st, all these runners made it to the finish line. There is only a single runner with the best time, but there are many more stories worth mentioning afterwards.
