VALE – The Vale volleyball squad honored and sent the team’s seniors out on a good note with a 3-0 win over Nyssa on Tuesday, Oct. 4 in the Vale gym
Prior to the start of the match, seniors and their parents were congratulated and flowers and balloons were presented.
Once the festivities were completed, the Vikings roared out to a quick lead early in the first set. The Bulldogs bounced back to grab the lead at 6-5, but the Viks retook the advantage at 7-6 and started a run of points. At the 10-6 mark, Nyssa coach Maddie Speelman attempted to slow the point scoring by Vale, calling a timeout to regroup. Vale ended the set with a kill by Kinsey Meisinger, winning 25-12.
The second set started with the two teams trading points early. The Vikings again started to pull away mid-set, leading 15-6 at one point. An error by the Bulldogs off a serve by Vale’s Alexxa Ross handed the Vikings a 25-9 victory.
The Dawgs did see success early in the third set, leading early and often. The Vikings came back to knot up the score at 14 points and started to slowly pull away. Vale’s Ali Aldred served the final six points for the Vikings, pushing Vale to a 25-19 set win and the match victory.
