Vale girls fall to Idaho’s Panthers

VALE – The Vale girls’ basketball team fell to 1-3 on the season with a 40-25 loss to the Idaho 3A Parma Panthers on Tuesday, December 17 on the Viking home court.

In Vale’s fourth game facing an Idaho team, the Viks started off the game with a long 3-pointer by Emersyn Johnson just 43 seconds into the game. At the end of the first quarter, Vale trailed by just two points, 9-7.

Sloppy ball handling hurt the Vikings in the second quarter with the Panthers building up a 20-13 margin at the half.

Even with the Viking loss, Vale head coach Jason Johnson was pleased with parts of game.

“This was better basketball than we have played in the last few games,” Johnson said. “We did some things right tonight and executed our offense at times during the game.”

In the loss, sophomore Kailey McGourty finished with seven points to lead Vale. Johnson ended the night with four points. Vale (1-3 overall) will have the chance to even things up with the Panthers as the Viks travel to Parma on Thursday
