After wrapping up the regular season with a league perfect 4-0 record and claiming the 3A Special District 4 title, the Vale Viking football team placed 15 players on the all-league team. Newcomer to the league, the Ontario Tigers, found 12 names on the listing while the Nyssa Bulldogs ended with 11 players making the list. The Burns Hilanders under first year coach Matt Bruck had 10 players named and McLoughlin saw three players make the honors.
After the coaches representing all the teams met Monday, Oct. 31, the decision was made to split the Offensive Player of the Year between two players. Vale senior running back Eli Aldred and Ontario sophomore quarterback Diego Rodriguez were the honorees after the coaches voting.
An additional sophomore also picked up the Offensive Lineman of the Year award when Viking sophomore Gino Longoni picked up the award.
The defensive award also ended up split when Vale senior Owen Crane and Nyssa senior Orin Stipe were named Co-Defensive Players of the Year. Also representing the Bulldogs, Nyssa senior Michael Sanders was picked as Defensive Lineman of the Year.
The Vale coaching staff also saw some honors. Head coach Jeff Aldred was picked by his peers as Coach of the Year while assistant Nate Aldred was named Assistant Coach of the Year.
The complete listing of all the players honored is included below. EOS congratulates all the players on their accomplishments this past season.
