Vale Dash-N-Splash Kicks Off XC Season – Complete Results for Adrian, Baker, Burns, Four Rivers, Nyssa, Pine Eagle, Vale

VALE – The cross-country season is off for a number of teams after gathering in Vale for the Dash-N-Splash on Thursday, Aug. 24. After a quick two-mile run, the teams took to the local swimming pool to cool down after the heated run.

For the boys, the Hilanders managed a 10-point win over second place Nyssa while Baker was third. The host Vikings placed fourth with Four Rivers grabbing the fifth slot.

Vale senior Trevor Stewart led the entire race, crossing the line in 10 minutes, 38.5 seconds for the win. Stewart was followed by Baker junior Daniel Brown and a time of 10:54.8 and in third, Burns junior Talon Morris and his time of 11:07.9.

The Falcons of Four Rivers had a surprise for the field as freshman Oliver McDowall placed seventh in the field. Nyssa had a top 10 finish with senior Spencer Romans placing ninth while Pine Eagle was just outside the top 10 as senior Gideon Tubbs finished 12th. Adrian’s top finish went to sophomore Keegan Johnston in 17th.

The Baker girls returned home with the team title, eight points better than Burns. Host Vale finished third in the team scoring.

Picking up from last year, the top three finishers in the girls’ race were familiar names. Vale sophomore Addie Saunders picked up the win, hitting the finish line in 13:41.7. Baker junior Sofia Kaaen was a few steps behind at 13:42.5 Burns sophomore Sydney White took third with a time of 13:51.4.

Four Rivers junior Lacatia Mason snuck into the top 10 at tenth and Nyssa’s top finisher was Jazlyne Martinez in 13th. Pine Eagle junior Evie Davis finished 25th to lead the Spartans.
