NYSSA – The Vale boys’ basketball team climbed to 3-0 in the Eastern Oregon League and have taken over fourth in the OSAA rankings after a dominating 67-38 victory over Nyssa on Saturday, Jan. 13 in league play.

The Bulldogs were able to keep the game close in the first quarter before a 20 point second quarter by the Vikings placed Vale comfortably in the lead at the half, 36-23. The Bulldog offense stalled completely in the third quarter, putting up only five points while the Viks added 24 points. With the starters on the bench, Vale cruised through the final eight minutes of running clock.

Vale saw 18 points from senior Diesel Johnson to lead the Vikings in the game. Ethan Mulvaney chipped in 14 points and Brooks Haueter showed he is back in full force with 15 points.

For Nyssa, Tony Gomeza ended with 21 points. Fransisco Miranda added 11 points.

This sets up a battle of undefeated league and top 10 3A teams on Friday, Jan. 19 as the Pirates of Riverside make the trip to Vale.
