WEISER, ID – Using a first place showing by Union junior Taylor Fox, the Union boys grabbed the team title at the Weiser Invite, held Thursday, Sept. 2.
Union scored 35 points, 25 points better than Idaho’s Melba team’s 60. Union was the sole representative team from Oregon with team standings.
Fox, outdistancing the rest of the field, crossed the line in a time of 17 minutes, 47 seconds in the win. Sophomore Eli Williams placed fourth, just ahead of freshman Nathanael O’Reilly in fifth place.
For the Vale Vikings, sophomore Trevor Stewart had the best finish in 34th. Vale failed to qualify for a team score.
The Union girls placed fourth in the team points, led by an 11th-place finish by senior Audrey Garlitz and her time of 24:03. For Vale, Ava Collins finished 18th for the top Viking placement.
