VALE – The Nampa Christian Trojans beat the Vale Vikings in Vale on Monday night 20-25 25-21 25-18 25-17. Vale started quickly en route to an early 1-0 lead but the Trojans battled back to take the last three games and the match.

Both teams had runs but in the end Nampa Christian was a little more consistent down the stretch.

“I was pleased with our defense tonight and our serve receive but I could tell we were tired after so much volleyball in the last five days” coach Shannon Steele said. The Vikings placed third in the Peg Peterson tournament in Pocatello, Idaho just 2 days prior.

Jaymeson Jensen led the Vikings on the night serving 100% with three aces. Jensen also led the team with 12 kills. On the defensive side of the net Emmersyn Johnson had 12 digs followed by Taleah Zueger with 9. Senior setter Maycee Delong had 27 assists. Tyanna Norton was the block leader with 5.

“We continue to fight the momentum demon. When we communicate and when we follow the rules of volleyball we look great” Steele added. “We will go back to mental toughness tomorrow and walk through some of our mistakes and how to correct them.”

The Vikings continue non-league action later this week against Fruitland and Skyview before opening their league season in Nyssa on September 19th.
