The way to cap off a 28-1 season combined with a state 4A championship is to also claim Player of the Year, Coach of the Year and multiple players named to the 4A All-State squad. After an outstanding season culminated with a state title, the La Grande baseball team recently found multiple player names as the listing was released.
Tiger senior Devin Bell wrapped up his La Grande baseball career with a Player of the Year award. Bell’s coach, Parker McKinley, picked up the Coach of the Year award.
The accolades continued for La Grande as junior pitcher Jake Schow was named first team after pitching the Tigers to a state championship in the title game versus Hidden Valley. The teammate on the other end of those pitchers, senior catcher Cole Jorgenson was also named first team. The Tiger names continued for first team as senior Devon Bell found his name on the listing as an infielder.
Junior San Tsiastsos picked up third team honors as a pitcher for La Grande and was joined on the third team listing by junior Logan Williams as an infielder.
Senior first baseman Nick Bornstedt was placed on the honorable mention list, joining junior Noah Mcllmoil as a utility player.
After finishing second in the Greater Oregon League standings and with a 16-12 record, Baker/Powder Valley also saw Bulldog names on the all-state list.
The future of the Bulldogs appears bright as sophomore outfielder Hudson Spike started the Baker/Powder Valley listing on second team. Also on second team was senior Logan Capon as a utility player.
Receiving honorable mention was senior Connor Chastain in the outfield. Senior Hayden Younger was also honorable mention as an infielder.
