Tiger Girls, Bulldogs Boys Claim GOL District Crowns (Including full results for Baker, La Grande, Ontario, Pendleton)

PENDLETON – The runners have crossed the finish line at the Birch Creek Golf Course in Pendleton and the district champions have been crowned, La Grande for the girls and Baker for the boys as the 4A Greater Oregon League cross country meet took place Thursday, Oct. 26

The Tiger girls swept the top four times in the race as La Grande scored 23 points to take the title. Baker, with 48 points, was second and the host Lady Buckaroos placed third.

In the continuing battle between teammates Cecilia Villagomez and Brooke Perry, it was Villagomez in this race, taking the victory in 18 minutes, 20.3 seconds. Perry was the closest second possible at 18:40.4. La Grande senior Emily Tubbs ran her final district meet placing third and Kiah Carlson was fourth. Finally breaking up the La Grande gang, Baker junior Sofia Kaaen finished fifth.

The team members for both La Grande and Baker qualify for the upcoming state meet along with Pendleton junior Melissa Tune after her seventh-place finish.

The Baker boys were seven points better than the host Pendleton team in the team title. La Grande placed third with Ontario taking fourth.

Baker junior Daniel Brown claimed the individual title, crossing the finish in 16:33.3 followed by Pendleton sophomore Jack Reynolds 11 seconds back. Continuing to mix the results up among different teams, La Grande junior Josef Simonis placed third.

Team members from both Baker and Pendleton qualify for the state meet and will joined by Simonis and Ontario’s Jack Hally.
