A number of eastern Oregon teams joined teams from around the northwest as the Ultimook Race ran through the mud hazard on Saturday, Sept. 7 on the Hydrangea Ranch. While named the Ultimook Race, this is in fact a number of races held throughout the day and divided into skill sets.
The top area finish in the Girls JV 1A-4A division went to Weston-McEwen’s Brynn Brownie taking 12th with a time of 26 minutes, 23.12 seconds. The future appears bright for the TigerScot boys as Arden Shaul placed third in the Boys JV 1A-4A race, coming in under 20 minutes at 19:32.50.
Cross country fans will have the next four years to watch Enterprise freshman Lilly Weer and La Pine freshman Lindsey Brown battle it out on different courses. On this Saturday, Weer’s 20:03.26 and fourth place outdid Brown’s fifth place time of 20:18.26. Heppner’s Lily Nichols was less than a second behind Brown in sixth.
The boys’ varsity saw Stanfield/Echo’s Pablo Galindo as the top local finisher, placing 28th.
