With the conclusion of the 1A state basketball tournament, the High Desert League released their selections for boys basketball for the past season.
To the surprise of none, the newly crowned state champion Crane Mustangs led the listing including Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year. Mustang senior Cody Siegner, a state tournament unanimous first team honoree, picked up the Player of the Year for the league. Teammate Ross Clark was voted as Defensive Player of the Year. Both Crane players are seniors.
The first team honors were dominated by the state champions. Joining Siegner and Clark on the first team were senior Josh Zander and senior Joah Friedrichsen along with senior Casse Rooseboom.
Adrian senior Colten Bayes was joined on the first team by Harper sophomore Richard Joyce and Hornet junior Kade Speelman.
The second team honors saw Jordan Valley, Prairie City and Dayville/Monument with their first honorees. Jordan Valley junior Lane Jewett joined Panther sophomore Chet Workman along with Tiger sophomore Josh Thomas on second team. Adrian added to their list with junior Silvestre Rico and senior Rance Jordan.
Crane rounded out their list as senior Tommy Jack Rose picked up honorable mention listing. The Antelopes continued with sophomore Trey Bayes and junior Brooks Martin while Prairie City added four players on honorable mention including sophomore Noah Kenyon, senior Hagen Workman and juniors Kingson Mitchell-Kirby and Sawyer Quinton. Four Rivers entered the listing on honorable mention with sophomore Aaron De La Cruz and Huntington’s lone honoree for the season was junior Max Perry.
