STANFIELD – The combined team of Stanfield and Echo boys took the team title on the home course during the running of the Stanfield “Fun” Country on Thursday, October 24.
Stanfield-Echo was able to take a two-point margin over Riverside, 45-47. MacHi was third with Nixyaawii placing fourth.
Not garnering a team score, the individual title went to Weston-McEwen freshman Alex McIntyre. The lone runner to run the course in under 19 minutes, McIntyre finished in 18 minutes, 54 seconds. Stanfield-Echo senior Rafael Orozco and McLoughlin senior Bryan Abrego clocked under 20 minutes with Orozco finishing second in 19:03.5 and Abrego putting up a time of 19:08.3 for third place.
The team title for the girls’ competition went to McLoughlin with 35 points. Nixyaawii was second with host Stanfield-Echo placing third.
Leading MacHi was senior Mekenna Simpson, the race winner with a time of 22:47.3. Racing on her home course, Stanfield-Echo junior Zora Gehrke was second. Griswold junior Ryann Stahancyk was third.
