When the fall soccer season begins around eastern Oregon, even more teams will take to the fields than last year. The growth of the sport continues with both boys and girls adding additional teams.
1A Dufur will join the Special District 5 of the 3A/2A/1A girls division, making the Rangers the third 1A squad in the district alongside teams Four Rivers and Echo/Stanfield. Also entering the Special District 5 this upcoming season will be the 2A Grant Union Prospectors. Athletic directors are scrambling this summer as the district is now nine teams strong including the return of the defending champions McLoughlin Pioneers.
The girls are not alone in seeing extra teams in the district fight. The 1A Ranger boys of Dufur will take to the field in the Special District 3 of the 3A/2A/1A division, expanding the district to seven teams including the return of the reigning champions McLoughlin Pioneers.
