Jamieson Produce is an onion packing shed located in Vale, Oregon that packs and ships onions across the United States 12 months of the year. It has been in operation for nearly 40 years and currently employees about 50 people. Over the years our business has grown and to date we pack and ship over 100 million pounds of onions each year. We appreciate the quality onions our growers provide and the hard work our employees do every day. Jamieson Produce is owned by Doug and Terrie Maag and managed by Jeff Stubbs.

Y-1 Farms is located in Jamieson, Oregon and is owned by Doug and Terrie Maag and Corey and Mandi Maag. Various row crops such as onions, sugar beets, silage corn, alfalfa, and wheat are grown on nearly 2000 acres. The feed crops are used to provide feed for the feedlot they operate. Up to 12,000 head of cattle can be fed at Y-1 Farms. Y-1 Farms was established in 1985 but the Maag Family was farming before that. Doug farmed with his father, Warner Maag, for several years prior before purchasing his own farm. Y-1 Farms employs about 20 full-time employees to assist in operating the farm. We are extremely grateful for our employees and the hard work they provide.

VALE – Vale senior running back Kase Schaffeld had 38 carries for 267 yards and four scores as the Vikings grabbed a 3A quarterfinal victory over the visiting Taft Tigers, 46-24 on Saturday, Nov. 16 at Frank Hawley Stadium in Vale.

After the two teams traded scores in the first quarter, Vale exploded for 24 points in the second quarter and led at the half, 30-18. Slowing down in the third quarter, the Vikings put up an additional 16 points in the final quarter to walk away with the win.

The Viking defense again looked stingy in the second half, holding the Tigers to 71 yards in the final two quarters, 69 of those coming on a single Taft pass play. Taft finished the second half with a minus 12 yards total offense with a total of 292 total yards for the game. The Tigers did put up the most points against the Viking defense of any team this season but counted on big plays to reach the milestone. 201 of the total yards came on three big plays.

The Vikings ended the game with 379 total yards of offense, 331 of those coming from the ground game. In addition to Schaffeld, junior Thomas Rodriguez also found himself in the endzone twice, carrying the ball eight times for 41 yards.

With the exception of the three pass plays, the Vale defense held Taft senior quarterback Ezra James to 200 yards passing on a 14-for-25 day. James and the Tigers, attempting to get back into the game in the fourth quarter, saw his third interception of the game picked off by Vale junior Troy Dayton to secure the Viking win.

The Taft running game could never get going against the large and talented Vale defensive line, ending with only 92 yards on the ground game.

The Vale win breaks the drought of two straight quarterfinal losses with the Vikings falling in the 2022-23 quarterfinals to Kennedy and losing in a heartbreaker to Cascade Christian last season in overtime.

The fourth seeded Vikings head to Summit High School on Saturday, Nov. 23 to meet North Valley, the ninth seed but a team that upset top seeded Siuslaw/Mapleton in the quarterfinals, 55-22.
