BURNS – Led by individual champion and Burns senior Chloe Rothwell, the Hilander girls golf team defended their home course, winning the Burns Tournament on Wednesday, April 23.
Burns finished up the day with a team total 431, getting by second-place Trinity Lutheran by only two strokes. Grant Union finished third. Pilot Rock/Ukiah, Vale and Nyssa failed to qualify for a team total.
Rothwell carded a tournament best 97 to win the day. Teammate and sophomore Emma Roby grabbed fourth place after a 103.
A pair of freshman tied for fifth for the day with Grant Union’s Ali Wenick and Nyssa’s Sara Goldthorpe both finishing the 18 holes with 105.
Vale junior Taylor Bates was the top Viking, placing eighth.
