Led by Player of the Year senior Jozie Ramos and Coach of the Year Ali Abrego, the Baker Bulldogs named six players to the 4A Greater Oregon All League Volleyball Team as voted upon by league’s coaches. The honors come after the Bulldogs wrapped up the year with a fifth-place finish in the recent 4A state volleyball tournament.
This marks a repeat of last year’ s honors for both Ramos and Abrego as the two received the same honor last season. Ramos also received player of the year honor for last year’s basketball season.
First team honorees include four seniors, three juniors and a lone sophomore. Joining Ramos from the Bulldogs is senior Makenzie Flanagan and senior Taylor Dalton. La Grande jumps onto the listing with two juniors, Makenna Shorts and Ary Myer. Pendleton junior Keirson Spencer is on the list with her teammate and the lone sophomore on the team, Josie Jenness. Ontario senior Angelina Herrera rounds out the first team listing.
In a preview of next season, juniors and sophomores lead the way for second team honors. The sophomore listing includes Pendleton’s Lexie Willman, Baker’s Safia Hanson, and Baker’s Kaydence Thomas. Returning to the court next season as seniors will be Pendleton’s Avery Krigbaum, Ontario’s Kira Evans, and La Grande’s Rylan Mellinger. Two seniors, La Grande’s Addy Dunlap and Baker’s Campbell Vanderwiele will graduate with second-team honors.
