REDMOND – The Powder Valley Badgers were ranked #1 in the 1A for most of the season but their attempt to take the state championship in volleyball came up just short as they fell to the St. Paul Buckaroos 25-13, 25-14, 25-16. The #3 Bucks repeated as state champs.
The Badgers opened the tournament downing Damascas Christian 25-16, 25-14, 25-19, followed by one of the matches of the tournament as they beat Country Christian 25-17, 25-11, 17-25, 23-25, 15-8.
Brooke Allen was named to the all-state first team and her teammates Josie Krieger and Keanna Bingham were named to the second team.
The Badgers will only lose two seniors from their team this year and should be in contention to make another run for a championship in 2021.
