Riverside senior Crystal Sanchez will make her graduation walk this spring as the 3A/2A/1A Special District 5 soccer player of the year after a tally of voting by the district’s coaches was announced. The Pirate defensive player had to fight off a score of Four Rivers players as the Falcons named eight players to the all-league girls soccer listing.
Four Rivers coach Marcus Zacarias joined a number of his players on the list after picking up coach of the year honors. Falcon goalie Olivia Chavez picked up first team honors as did Kayla Vera and Leah Benson.
In addition to Sanchez, Riverside saw six players named to all league including first team honors to Monse Pachecho and Jule Magana-Guillen.
The Lady Pioneers of McLoughlin may not have matched their counterparts at school with a state title but did name five players to all league with Rylee Herndon and Madi Perkins picking up first team honors.
Led by first team player Clarita Arizmendi, Nyssa placed three players to all league.
Echo/Stanfield found five names on the listing, including first team honors going to Mayela De La Fuente.
Umatilla named two players to all league while Irrigon ended with three players on the list.
EOS would like to congratulate trailblazers Abbie Justice, Zoey Beam and Lily Duryh as the three Prospectors were named all-league in Grant Union’s first year of girls soccer.
