Pick a state champ in eastern Oregon

Things are starting to get serious in the OSAA football playoffs. Quarterfinal games take place this weekend across the state.

We here at easternoregonsports.com want to know your thoughts on which team will go all the way and be crowned the best football team in the state.

Here are the candidates:

1A

12th ranked Powder Valley shocked fifth ranked Lowell in round one and faces fourth ranked Camas Valley on Saturday. Are the Badgers the upset team going all the way?

Third ranked Crane decimated Triad last week, 60-6. The Mustangs host 11th ranked Dufur today with the possibility of taking on Adrian/Jordan Valley in the semifinals.

Second ranked Adrian/Jordan Valley has cruised through the season undefeated. The Lopes meet Hosanna Christian on Saturday with a possible rematch against Crane on the bracket. Is this the year for the combined team?

2A

Heppner remains the lone undefeated 2A team in the state and host 11th ranked Warrenton on Saturday. Is this year’s Mustangs the 1972 Dolphins and finish the year undefeated?

3A

Two eastern Oregon teams remain in the hunt for a state title. Third ranked Burns hosts sixth ranked Clatskanie on Saturday while 10th ranked Vale is on the road taking on second ranked Santiam Christian, also on Saturday. If both win, a rematch of the EOL title game is on the bracket.

4A

The ninth ranked Baker Bulldogs have the chance to upset the number one team in the state on Saturday, taking the field against Banks on Saturday. Third ranked La Grande is under the lights on Friday, hosting sixth ranked Gladstone. If both teams win out the remainder of the bracket, the Greater Oregon League could take up both slots in the championship game.
