LA GRANDE – With seconds remaining on the game clock, La Grande junior Olivia Pennington drained a long range three pointer, giving the 4A Lady Tigers a 43-42 victory over the visiting 3A Vale Vikings.

The win avenges the worst loss of the season for La Grande, a 20-44 game on Dec. 15 described by La Grand coach Brian Wright as “the worst we played” in the Vale gym.

The Lady Vikings were on their way to a repeat of Dec. 15, leading 28-21 at the half. A four-point showing by Vale in the third quarter cut the lead to 32-28. The two teams battled in the final eight minutes before Pennington was able to find the net and secure the win.

Pennington was the lone Tiger in double figures for scoring, ending the night with 12 points. Rowan Evans added nine points.

For Vale, Kesley Stepleton led all scorers with 19 points. Elli Jacobs and Bella Johnson each ended with seven points.
