ENTERPRISE – After a lifetime of competition and coaching, Tiffany Arellano is stepping into the administrative side of sports as the new athletic director in Enterprise. Arellano takes over the position after Kate Fent decided to step down leading the athletic department of the Outlaws.

Arellano graduated from Madras High School, going onto to Clark Community College and Eastern Oregon University, taking the basketball court for the Mountaineers in her collegiate career. After coaching basketball for the Condon girls, Arellano spent the last three years as the junior varsity coach for the Wallowa boys.

In a change for Enterprise, the athletic director position will be in-house as Arellano will spend half a day as an early literacy teacher followed by a half day scheduling buses, officials and makeup games for the Outlaws.

“This first year, I am concentrating on building relationships with the student athletes, parents and the community,” said Arellano. “Down the road, I want to start growing programs for the younger athletes in Enterprise. We just cannot start athletes in a sport at the high school level. The basics must be implemented at a much younger age.”

Arellano does not bring just a new face to Enterprise-she also brings two new Outlaws, two sons. One attended Enterprise last year and a younger son will be a future Outlaw.

“The ultimate goal for this position is to be a champion for student athletes,” Arellano explained.

Arellano will guide a new era in Enterprise football as Josh Hermans and the team return to the ranks of 2A 9-man football after a state playoff appearance in the 1A 8-man ranks last season.

The new athletic director has a calming method of dealing with the stress of finding non-league opponents or driving her own family around to athletic events-creating and casting her own wooly buggers. If looking for Arellano away from Enterprise High School, she can likely be found standing in the middle of a local stream, fly fishing with one of her own hand tied flies.
