PENDLETON – Not to be outdone by their male teammates, the Enterprise/Joseph/Wallowa girls cross country team took home the 3A/2A/1A District 3 championship after the scores were tallied on Friday, Nov.1 in Pendleton. The Outlaws finished up the day with 35 points with Union/Cove taking second after a 56-point total. Imbler, in third place also qualified for a trip to the state meet and Heppner, after finishing fourth in the team scores, received an at-large bid to make a total of four district squads heading to the state tournament.

Youth ruled the top of the finishes with only a sole senior placing in the top seven runners. Pine Eagle freshman Lindsey Brown took her first district championship, running the course in 19 minutes, 10.8 seconds. The lone senior, Imbler’s Paiten Braseth, placed second after a time of 19:13.5. Enterprise/Joseph/Wallowa freshman Lilly Weer led her team’s district championship with a third place showing with a time of 19:16.0. Teammate and sophomore Kyra Brown was less than three seconds behind in fourth.
