PENDLETON – Led by a first place showing by the Outlaw’s Jett Leavitt, the Enterprise/Joseph/Wallowa boys claimed the 3A/2A/1A Special District 3 cross country team title on Friday, Nov. 1 in Pendleton.

The Outlaws held off a surprising Nyssa team with the Bulldogs taking second in the team scores. Burns, third in the scoring, is also making the trip to the state meet after picking up an at-large bid by the OSAA.

Leavitt continued his dominance in the district meet, the lone runner under 17 minutes on the course with a winning time of 16 minutes, 44.9 seconds. His teammate and fellow senior Lucas Goodrich claimed second with Nyssa’s top runner, freshman Pedro Santana, rounding out the top three.

Although not qualifying as a team, Riverside’s Nathen Hammond and Vale’s Duncan Fritts will also be at Lane Community College for the state meet after qualifying as individuals.

Leavitt currently possesses the third fastest time in the 3A ranks behind Oregon Episcopal’s Ronan Gantzos and Siuslaw’s Clayton Wilson, the lone runner to go under 15 minutes in the 3A ranks.

The Outlaws, Bulldogs and Hilanders will vie for a state title against a strong Banks team and Wilson led Siuslaw group.
