OSAA Classification Committee Wants To Hear From You

WILSONVILLE – Although short and sweet, the OSAA Classification and Districting Committee meeting on Monday made one thing clear-public input is needed.

Meeting for just over 20 minutes before adjourning to a closed work session, the committee stressed the need for the public to have input. It also made clear schools playing by exception, either up or down in a classification, would see the exemption expire the end of this year. A new exemption would need to be submitted after the final decisions are made.

Football will not be included in this committee’s decisions as a separate committee is looking at football for the state.

Stayton Athletic Director Darren Shryock advised the committee to consider “like schools” based not solely on enrollment numbers, but also on activities the schools participate.

The committee will next meet Sept. 13. Those wishing to comment are urged to email Brad Garrett at
