Ontario’s Trejo Second At Payette Open

PAYETTE, ID – Ontario sophomore Lynda Trejo posted her season best time and finish, taking second place as Ontario and Four Rivers participated in the Payette Open cross-country race on Wednesday, Sept. 21.

Trejo crossed the finish line in a time of 26 minutes, 1 second, behind only New Plymouth’s Kylee Howard. Trejo bettered he previous best time this season by five seconds.

Daniela Mendoza was the top finisher for Four Rivers, placing 17th and a time of 36 minutes, 15 seconds.

The Ontario boys squad finished second in the team standings, behind only New Plymouth. The Tigers saw sophomore Jack Hally pick up third place as the top Ontario finish. Aiden Herrera, running for the Falcons of Four Rivers, broke into the top 10 with a ninth place showing.

Easternoregonsports.com is again standing out from other media sources by listing all the runners from eastern Oregon schools in the cross-country competitions. First or 41st, all these runners made it to the finish line. There is only a single runner with the best time, but there are many more stories worth mentioning afterwards.
