ONTARIO – Adorned in the College of Idaho’s purple instead of his usual Ontario uniform, Ontario senior Seth Iwasa announced his future on Monday, March 10 surrounded by family, well wishers and baseball teammates. The Tiger will take the baseball field next spring for the College of Idaho Yotes.

“I was impressed with the quality of education offered at C of I and the winning tradition the school has across all sports,” Iwasa explained. “I also wanted to stay close enough to where family can see me play.”

Off the field, the new Yote will be busy studying History as his future plans involve teaching history. On the field, Iwasa is not choosy about the position played.

“I will do whatever they request as their needs dictate,” said Iwasa. “I am versatile enough to play a number of positions.”

Iwasa joins a team that finished 9-15 in conference play last season and have started this year off with a 2-7 conference record to go with a 12-9 overall showing. The Yotes have been skimpy when it comes to Oregon players with just Grants Pass’ Nate Vilak as the lone player from this side of the Snake River.

“I want to thank my Mom and Dad and my entire family,” Iwasa said. “I also want to thank my teammates and coaches as they pushed me all the time towards this dream. “

Before Iwasa permanently wears the purple of the Yotes, he still has some work to do in his Tiger uniform. Ontario opens their baseball season with a trip to Vale on Monday, March 17 in nonleague play. Iwasa and the Tigers take the field at 4 p.m.
