John L. Braese

In addition to eastern Oregon girls basketball being well represented at the upcoming state tournament in Baker, teams from the Old Oregon League also made a outstanding showing as the Oregon Schools Activities Association released teams’ grade point averages for the state.

The Badgers of Powder Valley and the Bobcats of Union battled throughout the year on the court but in the arena of grades, tied for third in the state among 1A teams. Both teams ended the season with a cumulative 3.95 GPA.

Also representing the Old Oregon League, the Imbler girls came together for a 3.90 GPA, seventh in the 1A state standings. Just 2/100ths of a point behind, the Joseph girls’ 3.88 GPA was eighth.

Breaking the stranglehold of the Old Oregon League in the top 10, the High Desert’s Jordan Valley Mustangs locked up tenth with a 3.87 GPA.
