NYSSA – Nyssa senior Fransisco Miranda has not seen the last of the football field. The wide receiver for the Bulldogs will continue grabbing passes in the fall as he signed to play with the Lewis-Clark State College Loggers on Monday, May 13.
“It was just a great community during my visit and I really liked the coach,” said Miranda.
The Bulldog joins a team that played to a 2-6 overall record last fall with a squad including only a single Oregon player. The Loggers are a relatively young program, started in 2013 to fill the void of an Idaho NCAA-Division III team. The LCSC football team is the lone Division III team in the state of Idaho.
Fans of Miranda’s journey will have an easy time finding him on the roster as the Nyssa transplant will don the number 1 jersey number. While attending college, Miranda will be working towards a degree in social work.
“I will miss out head tapping we do here,” Miranda said of his best memory of playing with Nyssa. “I want to thank my Lord and Savior, my family, my teammates, friends and coaches, all who pushed me the whole way.”
“It is great to see Fransisco have the opportunity to continue on and play football,” said Nyssa coach JoJo Sanchez. “The Loggers are getting not only a quality football player but a teammate and student that will benefit the college and their program.”
