NYSSA – Looking down the road to attending a culminating tournament, the Nyssa girls’ basketball team built a quick lead over the visiting Ontario Tigers before sitting the team’s starters and cruising to a 63-16 victory.
The scoring started early for the Bulldogs as Gracie Johnson grabbed an offensive rebound, putting the ball back through the basket for a quick 2-0 lead with just 30 seconds off the clock.
Ontario’s first points also came off an offensive rebound, but with over three minutes off the clock when Kira Evans put the Tigers on the board.
Nyssa led the whole way with Coach Jeremy Chamberlain pulling his starters early, allowing is bench playing time with the fourth quarter played under the mercy rule.
Johnson led all scorers with 17 points. Ten Bulldogs put up points as senior Hailey Castro had 9 points.
Xiomara Ortega hit on a long three to lead the Tigers scoring.
