LA GRANDE – So, a basketball game Wednesday night may be an early sign the preseason polls are correct. On the road for the first game of the season, the 3A Nyssa girls’ basketball team downed 4A La Grande, 45-26.
The Bulldogs led 23-17 at the half and used a 16-point third quarter to cruise to the win.
”We had a good third quarter on defense and it set up a lot of transition points,” said Nyssa coach Jeremy Chamberlain.
The Bulldogs were led in the win by junior Gracie Johnson’s 20 points. Kate Vineyard added seven points and Laney Hartley had five points.
For La Grande, both Gracie Neer and Makenna Shorts finished with eight points.
