NYSSA – A few of the coaches on the bench were adorned in Santa hats. Presents wrapped in Christmas paper made their way from the bus to the gymnasium between games. Fans were keenly aware this was a Christmas tournament.
Varsity and junior varsity girls’ basketball teams from both Idaho and Oregon wrapped up action after three days on Saturday at the Nyssa Girls’ Basketball Christmas Tournament. Teams taking part included Harper, Four Rivers, Orofino, Payette, Adrian, Grangeville, Liberty Charter, McCall and the host Nyssa Bulldogs. Over the course of the three days, the teams competed in round robin action.
“I really want to thank all the teams and fans,” said Nyssa head coach Jeremy Chamberlain. “Everyone was able to see some great basketball games.”
Chamberlain said the tournament was assisted by two major sponsors, Subway and CAPS Auto Truck & Ag.
“Both of these sponsors stepped up and really made this tournament possible,” said Chamberlain. “I also want to thank all the volunteers and staff of Nyssa High School for all the work done both before and during the tournament.”
