ONTARIO – The Nyssa boys wrestling team returned home from the short trip to Ontario with the team title at the Charlie Anthony Memorial on Thursday, Dec. 28. The Bulldog boys held off Idaho’s Homedale, 134 to 100.
Host Ontario placed fifth in the team points followed by Union in sixth. Adrian picked up the seventh slot and Four Rivers finished eighth.
At 138 pounds, the battle for first place saw teammates on the mat. William Savage ultimately took a 4-0 decision over Nash Froerer as Nyssa went one/two. Wrestling at 285 pounds, Noah Fuentes wrestled his way to a 4-0 record on the day for a championship.
Ontario’s top finish went to sophomore Samuel Espinoza in the 113-pound division. Espinoza had a 2-1 record at his home match for a second place showing.
Union’s Nathan Crago, taking the mat at 132 pounds, also picked up second place after a 4-1 record in a crowded field in the division.
At 190 pounds, freshman Braysen Jordan was the top Antelope finisher with a third-place finish after a day of wrestling going 2-2.
Four Rivers saw A.B. Paredes finish second in the 285-pound class. Paredes won three of his four matches on the mat for the day.
