VALE – Here is a helpful hint to future opponents of the top-ranked Baker girls’ team-don’t foul Macey Moore. Moore’s perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line was just part of her 21 total points as the Bulldogs downed the 3A Vale Vikings, 48-38 in Vale on Tuesday, Jan. 17 in a 4A versus 3A battle.

The Vikings’ Halle Peterson had the first points on the board for the game, hitting a short jumper just 59 seconds into the game. Baker promptly took control of the first quarter, scoring 20 points and led 20-10 at the start of the second quarter.

Vale came out hot early in the second, cutting the Bulldog lead to a single point at the 5 minute, 4 second mark. The Viks stayed with the Dawgs the entire quarter, outscoring Baker 14-6 and at the half, Baker held only a 26-24 margin.

Baker’s Jozie Ramos scored the first three baskets of the second half, extending the Bulldog lead. The Dawgs put up 13 points in the quarter compared to Vale’s nine points and Baker led 39-33.

Both teams struggled in the final eight minutes of the game with Moore sinking four of her 11 free throws down the stretch and securing the victory for the 4A Bulldogs over the 3A hometown Vikings.

Behind Moore’s 21, Ramos put in 16 points and added nine rebounds for Baker and as a team, the Bulldogs shot 14-for-16 from the line, an 87.5% showing.

The Bulldog inside game dominated Vale, outscoring the Vikings 24-10.

In the loss, Kinsey Meisinger finished with 11 points and four rebounds to lead Vale. Bella Johnson added 10 points and freshman Kelsey Stepleton finished her night with six points and three steals.
