DUFUR – The Adrian football team scored on every possession, putting up 80 points as the Antelopes opened the season at the Dufur Classic with an 80-20 win over Camas Valley on Saturday, Aug. 31.

“I couldn’t be more happy with the performance of our offensive line including Tyler Mundlin, Juan Rico and Brayden Jordan,” said Adrian coach Billy Wortman. “They dominated the line of scrimmage from the very first snap and I am pleased with the performance of our freshmen in their first high school action.”

Kash Morford led Adrian with five rushes for 104 yards and two scores. Rance Jordan had six touches of the ball, gaining 88 yards and two trips to the endzone. On defense, Jordan added a fumble recovery. Zeke Bayes also made two trips in for a score while carrying four times for 67 yards.

Adrian also made use of the passing game as Trey Bayes for 4-for-5 passing for 104 yards and a score. On the opposite side of the passes, Brooks Martin had a lone reception all the way to the endzone. Chase Frankline picked up three catches for 23 yards.

Colten Bayes added a score both on the ground and catching. Bayes ended with two rushes for 85 yards and a score and added one reception for 73 yards and a second score.

Silvestre Rico ended the game with four rushes for 47 yards while Mannie Mulrony scored once on seven touches of the ball for 55 yards.  Chase Franklin hauled in three receptions for 23 yards.

Defensively, Mannie Mulrony led the Lopes with five tackles. Bayes ended the Classic with two tackles combined with two interceptions and Kaden Dudley also picked off a pass.

“We need to improve on physicality on special team, turnovers and getting the ball to our playmakers on the run,” Wortman said.

Adrian (1-0 overall) will take the field before the home crowd on Friday, Sept.6 continuing with nonleague play versus Lyle/Wishram/Klickitat/Glenwood with a 3 p.m. start. Both teams took part in the Dufur Classic where the Cougars fell to Powder Valley, 14-34.
