CHEADLE LAKE PARK – Although it happens to everyone, it is still tough to stomach. A sibling grabs the last piece of cake. A classmate is awarded “Student of the Month” by a single vote. Employment is given to the person just ahead of you in the interviews.
The top seven runners in the 3A/2A/1A Special District 2 are automatically awarded an invitation to the state cross country championship. After the running of the district meet on Wednesday, Oct. 30, La Pine senior Libby Smith was a single spot out of qualifying for a state run, placing eighth. Monroe freshman Miley Richardson grabbed the seventh and final spot for the upcoming state championship.
The Hawk girls failed to muster five runners to qualify for a team score.
The La Pine boys placed ninth in the team scores with the top finish going to junior Jeremiah Robinette with a time of 19 minutes, 20.47 seconds.
