EUGENE – Finishing fourth in the team standings of the 3A boys state cross country race, the Enterprise boys led the way for eastern Oregon schools as the state meet finished up on Saturday, Nov. 5 on the campus of Lane Community College.

The Outlaws team, comprised of runners representing Enterprise, Joseph and Wallowa, finished the day with 91 points. District champion Siuslaw Vikings had 52 points followed by Valley Catholic and Santiam Christian.

The Outlaws were led by a 12th place finish by sophomore Jett Leavitt and his time of 17 minutes, 3.5 seconds.

La Pine senior Wyatt Montgomery completed his high school career with a second-place state finish, crossing the line just one-tenth of a second over the 16-minute mark at 16:00.1.

The favorite next year will now be Vale junior Trevor Stewart. With six of the top seven runners this season graduating in May, Stewart, after finishing fourth with a time of 16:22.0, will be the runner to beat next fall.

Burns will also see youth coming back next year as freshman Lucian Miller picked up the top finish for the Hilanders, placing 21st.
