La Pine’s Montgomery First To Escape The Rock

FORT ROCK STATE PARK – Larger schools take note-when a smaller school shows up for a cross country event, the winner could be part of that small team.

La Pine junior Wyatt Montgomery crossed the finish line in first place in the running of the Escape the Rock at Fort Rock race on Saturday, Oct. 9.

Running a time of 18 minutes, 26.7 seconds, Montgomery led a team comprised of three boys and two girls against much larger teams and schools.

The top finish among the La Pine girls went to freshman Jaida Crowley in 16th. Crowley finished with a time of 29:56.5.
