COTTAGE GROVE – Fans hoping for a La Pine/Vale rematch in the finals of the 3A football championship ended up disappointed on both sides as Vale fell and the La Pine Falcons lost to the Siuslaw Vikings, 26-28 in semifinal action of the 3A playoffs.
The game was a rematch of the 3A Special District 2-North teams and the second time this season Siuslaw was able to overcome La Pine. In a league matchup on Oct. 8, the Vikings downed Falcons, 34-26.
The game was closer on Saturday in Cottage Grove between the two teams knowing each other, but if was the Vikings first on the board late in the first quarter with Camp Lacouture on a 1-yard push to give Siuslaw a 8-0 lead. It was Lacourture again late in the second quarter to give the Vikings a 16-0 lead on a short 1-yard run.
The La Pine defense put the first points on the board for the Falcons as Mike Brown scored on a 58-yard interception and run back to pull La Pine within eight points at 16-8.
The Falcons had two scores in the third quarter as Colton Campbell found the end zone on a 15-yard run and Adrian Boysha had a 19-yard run for the score. For the Vikings, Lacouture had his third score of the day on a 21-yard run.
The final 12 minutes saw Mike Brown catch a 12-yard pass from Campbell for the final La Pine score. Lacouture finished up his day with a fourth score on a 30-yard run to cap the Siuslaw victory.

La Pine finished the game with 270 yards of total offense, but allowed the Vikings 424 yards of offense. Siuslaw did pick up an astounding 20 penalties for 159 yards.
Colton was 7-for-12 for 132 yards passing and picked up 73 yards on 15 carries. Haakon Hanson had four catches for 67 yards.
Aven Green led the Falcon defense with 13 tackles, 10 of those solo. Dawson Cook ended his day with six tackles.
La Pine ends the season with a 7-4 overall record.
