CANBY – La Pine joined Hillsboro, La Salle, and Putnam along with host Canby for a cross country race on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at Molalla River State Park.
For the boys, the Hawks placed third in the team standings behind La Salle Prep and host/champion Canby. Senior Wyatt Montgomery placed second in the individual results as the La Pine runner trailed only Canby’s Maddox Oliver.
The La Pine girls failed to qualify for a team score, but three Hawk runners finished in the top 10. Senior Ashley Jentzsch placed fifth to lead the Hawks followed by sophomore Libby Smith in ninth and freshman Paisley Obrist in tenth.
Easternoregonsports.com is again standing out from other media sources by listing all the runners from eastern Oregon schools in the cross-country competitions. First or 41st, all these runners made it to the finish line. There is only a single runner with the best time, but there are many more stories worth mentioning afterwards.
