La Pine Boys And Burns Boys Shine At Adrian Memorial

BEND – Both the Burns Union and La Pine boys wrestling squads returned home with three individual titles each as the Adrian Irwin Memorial Tournament wrapped up action on Saturday, Dec. 18.

The team title went to Mountain View with 342 points with La Pine grabbing second with a point total of 260. The Hilanders ended in third place. Nyssa, splitting their team between the Irwin and Charlie Anthony Memorial in Ontario, finished seventh. The Mustang team of Crane placed 13th.

La Pine junior Tyson Flack pushed his record to 13-0 with a first-place finish in the 106-pound division after a pin over Mountain View’s Grayson Moore. Flack was joined by freshman Devon Kerr wrestling at 138 pounds. Kerr took the title with an 8-1 decision over Mountain View’s Reed Kamperman in the finals. At 145 pounds, Hawk senior Dylan Mann grabbed a 10-1 major decision over Mountain View’s Nathan Jones in the first place match.

Burns started their wins with freshman Kale Cornell, a winner at 120 pounds over La Pine’s Landyn Philpott by pin. At 126 pounds, Hilanders senior Oliver Barnes took a pin over Mountain View’s Ethan Potts in the first-place match. The third win for Burns came in the 170-pound division as freshman Easton Kemper pinned Crane’s Jake Doman for the title.
