La Grande Girls Win Baker Invitational (Full results for La Grande, Baker/Powder Valley, Burns, Pendleton/Griswold, Nyssa, Ontario, Umatilla, Dufur, Echo/Stanfield and Vale)

BAKER – Shooting a team total 389, the La Grande girls golf team bested the host Baker/Powder Valley team by 13 strokes on the Bulldog’s home course at Quail Ridge to claim the team title on Monday, April 21.

Burns finished the day in third place, three strokes better than Pendleton/Griswold. Nyssa picked up fifth place followed by Ontario. The teams from Umatilla, Dufur, Echo/Stanfield and Vale failed to qualify for a team score.

Dufur junior Tygh Timinsky was at the top of the leader board at the end of the day after firing a 87. La Grande senior was three strokes back at 87 for second followed by Burns senior Chloe Rothwell in third after carding a 94. La Grande senior Olesya Forbes placed fourth with a 96 and the top five closed out with Pendleton/Griswold junior Sophie Nelson and her 97.

The top score for the hometown Baker/Powder Valley team was Bulldog senior Brooklyn Rayl in sixth and her 98 stroke total. Vale’s top golfer, junior Taylor Bates finished seventh after breaking 100 by a single stroke. For the Cougars of Echo/Stanfield, a 106 for junior Peytin Smith was good enough for 18th.

A freshman led the Nyssa team as Sara Goldthorpe ended in 22nd after a 110. For Ontario and tied with Goldthorpe was Tiger sophomore Cadence Sandberg.
