La Grande Girls Dominate In Win Over Nyssa

NYSSA – The La Grande girls’ basketball team showed the reasoning behind talk of the Tigers being ranked a top 4A team in the state, pummeling Nyssa 70-32 in the Bulldog gym on Wednesday, June 2.

Nyssa held the lead once in the game as Gracie Johnson sank the first basket of the game on a short jumper to put Nyssa up 2-0. From that point on, La Grande terrorized the Bulldogs for the remainder of the game.

Senior and University of Portland bound Camryn Colman started the Tiger scoring with two of her game high 26 points to tie the game with just over one minute off the clock. The Tigers led from then on, leading 20-7 at the end of the first quarter and extending that lead for the remainder of the game.

Junior Isabelle Kump finished the night with 12 points. Senior Ella Dunlap and fellow senior Mckaylee Orton each had 10 points in the win.

For the Bulldogs, Johnson had 12 points, the lone Nyssa player in double figures.
