JOSEPH – A total of 13 teams departed Joseph on Saturday, Jan.8 after taking part in the JO-HI wrestling tournament in Joseph.
Culver boarded the bus with the team title after a point total of 251. Elgin placed second with 109 points and the combined team of Heppner and Ione placed third with 106 points.
One of the closest matches of the day took place in the title match at 126 pounds. Crane senior John Otley upped his season record to 16-3 after taking an 8 to 6 decision over Imbler senior Garrett Burns. Burns record for the year now stands at 22-2.
At 145 pounds, Pine Eagle senior Chase Butner continues to roll over opponents, winning over Culver junior Reeden Arsenault by fall.
In the 160-pound class, Grant Union senior Justin Hodge remains with just a lone loss on his record after winning over Elgin junior Gabe Hasbell with a 5 to 1 decision.
Adrian senior Toby Clow remains perfect for the year at 220 pounds after a win by fall over Santiam Christian junior Andrew Haase.
