ONTARIO – The tents adorned the campus of Treasure Valley Community College as teams from both Idaho and Oregon gathered on Thursday, October 3 for the Crosby Invitational. With 29 teams in attendance representing high schools and additional teams from middle schools around the region, space was at a premium with a large gathering also of parents and supporters.

Led by sophomore Riley Morris’s seventh place finish, the Hilander girls grabbed the team title. Morris finished the course in 20 minutes, 21.263 seconds. Immediately following Morris was teammate Brooke Smith, a freshman. Smith’s time was 20:35.15. Making the finish a trio was sophomore Olivia Winn and her time of 20:39.44.

Following the 53 points of Burns was Nampa and Mountain Home, both with 87 points. Baker, with 129 points, was fifth followed by Enterprise with 130 points. Vale (243 points) was ninth.

Enterprise senior Ellyse Tingelstad placed fifth in the individual standings while Baker junior Sydney Keller placed sixth.

The Baker boys were able to hold off Enterprise for the team honors. Baker finished the day with 88 points while Enterprise took second with 100 points. The Burns boys placed fourth with the host Ontario boys taking tenth.

On the second lap of the race, Enterprise sophomore Henry Coughlan was a strong third place. As the runners came back towards the finish line, Coughlan had taken over first place and outpaced the rest of the crowd by five seconds for the win. Coughlan finished the 5,000 meters in 16:12.59. He was joined in the top ten by Enterprise junior Zac Knapp and his sixth place finish. Enterprise sophomore Bayden Menton was eighth.

Baker senior Kale Cassidy placed seventh with a time of 16:59.25 and Burns senior JP Friedchsen placed ninth.
