NYSSA – The Burns boys’ basketball team continue to take care of 3A Eastern Oregon League opponents, downing Nyssa 48-38 on Tuesday, Jan. 24 in Nyssa.

Burns set the tone early, going inside to junior Zane Kozeni and led 12-8 after the first quarter. The Hilanders added an additional 12 points in the second quarter and hit the locker room with a 24-17 lead.

The Nyssa offense caught fire in the third quarter, cutting the Burns lead to two points. That same defense let up and allowed the Hilanders their largest quarter of the game with 16 points in the final eight minutes.

Kozeni led all scorers with 20 points and controlled the rebounding battle on both ends of the floor. Senior Garrett Johnson added 10 points in the Burns win and freshman Jack Wright ended with nine points.

For the Bulldogs, Orin Stipe, Kayno Florez and Zach Kausler each had nine points.
