ROCKRIDGE COMMUNITY PARK – The Hermiston girls cross country team finished behind only Summit as the Oxford Classic came to a close on Saturday, Oct 2 in Bend.
Summit finished with 16 points while the Bulldogs total was 59.
Bulldog sophomore Megan Joyce had the to finish for Hermiston, placing seventh with a time of 19 minutes, 34.21 seconds, her second-best run of the year. Freshman Elizabeth Newman was just outside the top ten, crossing the line in 11th and senior Alexia Serna was 14 seconds slower than Newman in 12th.
La Pine’s best finish came on the feet of junior Ashley Jentzsch in 32nd, running a time of 22:06.35.
In the team standings, the Hermiston boys placed fifth. The Summit boys, like the girls, also took the team title.
The Bulldog boys saw senior Logan Springstead place 23rd for the best Hermiston finish. Springstead finished the 5,000 meters in 17:32.24.
La Pine junior Wyatt Montgomery was 14th, running a season best time of 16:55.40. The race marked the first time this season Montgomery has run under 17 minutes.
