Hermiston girls run to another win

LAWRENCE SCOTT PARK, WA. – The story appears to be the same this year. The Hermiston girls cross country team shows up at a meet, runs, and returns home with the team title. This was again the case on Saturday, March 13 as the Bulldog girls traveled to Lawrence Scott Park for a tri-meet with Pasco and Southridge.

Hermiston, led by senior Amanda Nygard’s second place finish, returned home with the team title with a point total of 24. Southridge was second and Pasco finished in the third spot.

Nygard recorded a time of 19 minutes, 40.94 seconds, just behind Southridge freshman Brooklin Seadore’s 19:23.37. Bulldog junior Alexia Serna was behind her teammate in third place with Hermiston freshman Megan Joyce in fourth, making three of the top five finishers Bulldogs.

The Hermiston boys ended their day tied for second place. Southridge took top honors for the meet with 18 points. Hermiston and Pasco tied for second, each scoring 56 points.

The top runner for Hermiston was junior Logan Springstead. His time of 16:38.09 was good enough for third place.

Hermiston will see some Oregon teams on Thursday as the Bulldogs are in Heppner for the Mustang Invite.
