WANDERMERE GOLF COURSE – As runners take the course for the Washington State High School cross country championship, the Bulldogs of Hermiston will be well represented.
After a second-place finish at the 3A/4A District 8 meet on Saturday, Oct 30, the Lady Bulldogs are off to the state cross country meet on Saturday at Sun Willows Glof Course.
Hermiston’s 87 points lagged only behind champion Mead’s 25 points. Kennewick, Walla Walla and Mt. Spokane rounded out the top five team scores.
Hermiston was led by sophomore Megan Joyce placing seventh and running her best time of her career with a time of 19 minutes, 21.83 seconds. Freshman Elizabeth Newman finished 16th with a time of 19:52.01 followed in 17th by senior Alexia Serna and a time of 19:54.33. The Hermiston second-place team finish included junior Ashley Treadwell in 24th and senior Cydney Sanchez in 29th.
The Hermiston boys finished the district meet with a fourth-place finish and qualified two runners based on individual placement. Senior Logan Springstead will be running his final race as a Bulldogs after placing 11th in districts while freshman Jarsen Rodriguez will be making his first appearance after placing 12th.
