KENNEWICK – The Hermiston girls wrestling team placed seventh as action wrapped up at the Bob Mars on Saturday, Dec. 4 in Kennewick.
The Bulldogs ended the day with 102 points, three points shy of sixth-place Chiawana’s 105 points. The host Kennewick team grabbed the tournament title with 255 points.
Hermiston was led by a pair of second-place finishes. Wrestling at 135 pounds, junior Lorena Guardado fell in the championship match by pin to Riverview’s Kadyen Anderson. At 190 pounds, Hermiston senior Izithlaly Morfin also fell in her championship run, allowing a pin to Richland’s Hailey Ashmuhs. The Bulldog also picked up a fourth-place showing when sophomore Elena Flores was pinned in the battle for third place by Othello’s Hazel Gonzalez.
